Internet of Things

Introduction

The Internet of things (IoT) is a system of interconnected devices (both mechanical and digital) which have the means to transfer data over a network or the internet without requiring any interaction (from a human). In the last few years, there has been a sharp increase in the number of IoT devices being brought to market – not only for business/industrial purposes, but also within the home (Nest smart thermostat, Amazon Alexa smart speaker).
However, for any business looking to investigate such systems, IoT means more than just connecting devices together, it is an opportunity to enter a whole new market, creating new and exciting products and services.

For a growing business, IoT means much more than just establishing connections between devices and systems—it opens up vast opportunities for creating new products and services, targeting an audience beyond what the company could hope to target.

Benefits

Can help you take advantage of IoT technology and solutions.
Replacement of legacy machinery with newer IoT systems.
We work with third-party companies for testing & support.
We can integrate artificial intelligence into your IoT systems.
IoT systems are designed with security, performance and flexibility in mind.

Process

We deliver state-of-the-art IoT and smart devices by using an agile methodology to ensure project consistency and completeness. The overall development process is divided into stages that last a pre-determined duration. At the end of each stage, we deliver a report on our progress and explain the plan for what comes next.

Jovasi Technology has been designing electronic devices since it was formed - over 15 years ago. Since then, we have moved with the times and embraced new technologies, such as integrating IoT devices with existing systems, connecting to cloud platforms and working seamlessly with major IoT ecosystems.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why is it called the Internet of Things? The term Internet of Things was first recorded by Kevin Ashton back in 1999, and originally described the idea of tagging every object in a person’s life with codes readable by a computer.

Nowadays, the term is used to describe almost any device that connects over the internet with sensors, data, artificial intelligence etc.
  • Why are so many IoT devices available with poor security measures? It is usually because developers and manufacturers are more interested in bringing the product to market quicker, and on keeping the cost as low as possible.
  • Can IoT work without the internet? In theory IoT devices can work without the internet, as they can always use sensors etc. to collect data. However, the very idea of an IoT device is to use that data in a meaningful way, which usually does involve sending it over the internet to a central platform.
  • What is LoRaWAN?LoRa is a low-power wide area network (WAN) specification, and is designed for long-range, low-power operation with sensors and controls that work off of batteries or energy-harvesting devices.
