IASME

Introduction

The IASME Cyber Assurance is aimed towards SMEs as an alternative to the ISO 27001 standard, and was developed by the IASME Consortium from a UK government funded project. It allows organisations to demonstrate their level of information assurance and cyber security.

The IASME Cyber Assurance also includes elements of GDPR and data protection, and also maps closely to a number of widely recognised cyber security and assurance standards and guides.
Identify threats to your data and organisation.
Show your customers you take information assurance and cyber security seriously.
Comply with local authority & government requirements.

IASME Process

The IASME Cyber Assurance process involves a self-assessment (Level 1), which must be completed by the customer, and then an audit if pursuing the IASME Cyber Assurance Level 2 certification.

The IASME Cyber Assurance Level 1 must be achieved prior to continuing to the IASME Cyber Assurance Level 2 certification. The Cyber Essentials certification must be achieved prior to starting the IASME Cyber Assurance Level 1 certification.

The IASME certification is valid for 12 months, and must be renewed annually (by self-assessment), and every 3 years (audited assessment). Organisations who do not renew annually will be removed from the list of certified organisations on IASME's website. Jovasi Technology will remind you prior to the renewal date, so that you have adequate time to re-certify.

If you require additional technical support, or have multiple locations that need to be certified, then please specify these during the purchase process.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the process involve? The IASME self-assessed scheme involves the completion of a self-assessment (Level 1). We have prepared a guide to help you here. If you pass, then you will be presented with a certificate. If you fail, then we can help you get things in place to re-submit.

The IASME audited scheme (Level 2) also involves the completion of the self-assessment (and a successful pass). Following this, we will visit your organisation to conduct a vulnerability scan and verify your assessment.
  • How long do the certifications last? The IASME Cyber Assurance Level 1 lasts for 12 months and must be renewed annually, and the IASME Cyber Assurance Level 2 must be re-done every three years (with a self-assessment in years 2 and 3).
  • How much does it cost if we fail?If you fail the basic certification, then we do not charge for re-submitting once.

If you fail the audited certification, then we do not charge to redo the external vulnerability scan or for re-submitting. However, we may charge for revisiting your site to redo the internal vulnerability scan or review additional evidence.
  • Do you provide additional technical help?Yes, we can provide technical support to help you get things in place prior to the self-assessment. Please see our bolt-ons section for more details.
  • Do I need the audited certification? The audited certification lets you demonstrate to customers that you take the security of your information, data and systems seriously. It may also be required if you hold sensitive data or provide services to local authorities or the government.
  • What if our organisation has multiple locations? You can include these too (additional costs may be incurred if a visit is required to these locations), but you may exclude them from the scope of the certification.
  • Can we upgrade from an existing self-assessment?This may be possible, but it is likely that new vulnerability scans and evidence reviews will be required.
